Salzburg. Sturm Kroos showed Austrian football in an interesting way how to dismantle reigning champions Salzburg. In the cup semi-finals, “Swossen” played very well and defeated a surprisingly poorly organized Salzburg 4:3. Positional errors, rare mistakes by goalkeeper Schlager and game mentality, organization, pace and desire in response. Christian Ilzer's side advanced to the final with this demonstration and will face Rabat at the European Championship Stadium in Klagenfurt on May 1, just like they did last year. Won 2-0 in 2023.
It remains to be seen what this defeat means for Salzburg in the eight rounds of the Bundesliga that are still open. No other club has been able to put the league champions and reigning champions under so much pressure. Sturm, thanks to Georgian Kittishvili, was notably the dominant player in the game, but not the home team, whose coach Gerhard Struber was remarkably quiet after conceding all the goals. They haven't conceded four goals in Walls-Seissenheim since a 4-1 loss against Altach in 2009.
Solette (12th) made a successful debut, but then the bull stable began to falter. Bowing (25th), Horvath (51st) and Schneck (71st) scored for Sturm. Sucic (80th) gave hope again, which seemed to crumble after a corner and a header from Keuerhofer (81st). There was a slight increase in resistance when Tercic (90th) reduced the score to 3:4.
