Old friends and new toughness at Nova Rock

Age increases in big festivals. The Federal Foundation for Live Culture in Germany came to this conclusion. It remains to be seen whether the same applies to Noah Rock, which opens on Thursday. In any case, over four days at the Pannonia Fields in Nickelsdorf, many old friends are on the line, along with many fans who have grown old: Green Day, Avenged Sevenfold and Bring Me The Horizon are among the headliners. Meneskin, on the other hand, is a breath of fresh air.

This isn’t the first time seeing Alice Cooper live at Austria’s biggest rock festival. The 76-year-old is looking forward to her appearance, as she told APA. In line with the motto of the current tour, “Too Close for Comfort”, he promises pure horror: “We are using screens for the first time. So if I do theater that seems dangerous to some people,” the singer laughed, “thanks to the video wall, the audience is up close and personal. So they are in a comfort zone. They are too close to the action to experience it from the sidelines.” You won’t miss hits like “Schools Out” and “I’m Eighteen.”

The open-air event, which organizers expect will attract 200,000 visitors over four days, will open at 1:30pm on Thursday, June 13 with a fresh hot milk, not to be missed. English rock band Red Bull from Manchester in 1922 inspired emo-tinged pop-punk music around singer Hannah Mea. On the first day, you’ll find established acts like Donuts, Jane’s Addiction and Billy Talent on the Blue Stage, where Dogstar, the band around actor Keanu Reeves, and the eagerly awaited Blue Stage. On the Red Stage, Slayer fans await Kerry King’s performance. The last was the Sisters of Mercy, founded in 1980.

The following two days feature veteran live acts such as Machine Head, Some 41, Biohazard and Body Count ft. Ice-D. You can laugh at Gloryhammer and Steel Panther, although the latter is sometimes too rude. Contrast, Volkshilf and Out of Arta offer red-white-red sounds, while long-standing Sportfreunde Stiller in Nova’s inventory also rocks in German. Last but not least, Avril Lavigne and Babymetal provide splashes of color to the sound. As a “midnight show” (starting at 12:30 am) Otto and his Frisian boys are expected (for the second time in Nickelsdorf).

In third place behind the two main stages is the Red Bull Stage, with Smash Into Pieces, Life of Agony and Frank Cater & The Rattlesnakes, among others, vying for attendance. The open air has a club atmosphere. By the way, the Red Stage will not be used on the last day, June 16.

According to director Ewald Tatar, 180 hectares have been revived after last year’s rain and mud. There is a new “Blue Light Camp” that can be accessed even in heavy rain. Around 250 police officers, over 550 constables, 200 firemen and 120 paramedics and 8 emergency doctors will ensure security. Shuttle buses allow you to travel by public transport. In case of heavy traffic, it can be accessed via the Mönchhof exit in front and the Nickelsdorf exit of the A4.
