A 14-year-old boy died in a skiing accident in Seefeld in Tyrol (District of Innsbruck-Land) on Wednesday. While skiing with her father, the young woman may have veered off the piste and hit her head on a tree, police said. Although she was wearing a helmet, the 14-year-old girl was seriously injured. The exact path of the crash was still unclear Thursday evening. Police are appealing for information from potential witnesses.

The 14-year-old traveled with his 57-year-old father to the Rosshütte ski area. The two drove down a so-called “blue runway” and the father drove ahead and did not see his daughter's accident. In the valley station area, the Austrian noticed that his daughter was not coming regularly. He then took the lift back to the landing to search for the woman. At the lowest part of the descent, about 1,310 meters above sea level, he found his daughter. She lay motionless five meters down the slope next to a tree.

The man immediately administered first aid and, along with other skiers, began resuscitation measures. An emergency call was also made. The Piste rescue team, an emergency doctor and the crew of the emergency medical helicopter “Christopherus 1” finally arrived at the scene of the accident and continued to try to revive him – but without success. According to police, a 14-year-old boy who was a good skier and knew the area was already dead.
