LR Dorner: Burgenland is looking for its sports stars of tomorrow

Sportland Burgenland, ASVÖ, ASKÖ and Sportunion expect a large participation in the “Wolfgang Mesko Talent Trophy 2024”.

Sportland Burgenland and the sports umbrella associations ASVÖ, ASKÖ and Sportunion are once again looking for Burgenland’s sports stars of tomorrow. The framework for this is the “Wolfgang Mesko Talent Trophy”, which has been awarded to the country’s most promising sports talents since 2000 in honor of the well-known ORF sports journalist. Previous winners include well-known names such as Julia Dujmowitz, Christine Hetfleisch, Anna Fuhrman, Verena Eberhardt, Miriam Ziegler and Charlize Morse. The submission deadline for the largest number of participants in the “Wolfgang Mesko Talent Trophy 2024” is now open.

We are looking for highly successful and promising talent from June 1, 2023 to May 31, 2024. Athletes between the ages of ten to 16 can apply. Winners will be selected in two age categories: 10-13 years and 14-16 years. The deadline for submission is July 31, 2024.

The winners are decided by an independent jury consisting of Mak Hans Spitschauer, Helga Götzinger, representatives of the umbrella organizations and Department 9 – EU, Community and Funding. The award will be presented at a function to be held on September 18, 2024 at 6:30 PM in the State Parliament Assembly Chamber.

“Sport is very important because regular exercise, if done in sufficient quantity, is an essential prerequisite for a healthy lifestyle. Sport contributes not only to physical health, but also to mental health. As part of the state of Burgenland, we strive to constantly improve the structural conditions for people who want to engage in sport – be it high-quality or popular sport. “Possibly. The ‘Wolfgang Mesko Talent Trophy’ makes a valuable contribution to encouraging youth in sports, which is why we are happy to support this initiative,” stressed Sports Officer Heinrich Dorner.

Winning the Wolfgang Mesko Talent Trophy not only comes with a commemorative trophy, but also a cash prize of 1,500 euros worth of sports-related purchases. Applications can be submitted by July 31, 2024 to the Burgenland State Government Office, Sports and Club Maintenance Department, Europaplatz 1, 7000 Eisenstadt.

Application forms can be obtained directly from the Sports Department, Technical Center, Building 2, 1st Floor, Sports and Club Maintenance Department, 7000 Eisenstadt or accessed online at Mesco Trophy – Burgenland.
