Personal security device to improve response in emergencies
June 2007
A new wireless personal security system for healthcare settings
promises to improve response-times in emergencies, through more accurate
location of alarm signals.
EkoTek, by wireless communication systems provider Multitone
Electronic, provides users with either a two-way multifunctional
messager or a compact call fob that can be hung around the neck,
attached to a belt or carried in a pocket. Requests for assistance are
quickly transmitted to a central control hub, giving user name, precise
location and alarm type. Alerts are automatically sent to two-way
messagers carried by other healthcare workers, fixed display units or to
an external messaging system. Audio and visual signals are also sent to
the employee seeking assistance to confirm that help is on the way.
“EkoTek provides users with full personal security and messaging
functionality in a single, compact device”, says Multitone’s Technical
and Marketing Director, Ron Wray.
Multitone Electronics is based in Basingstoke, Hampshire.
