New addition to NDR fleet
UK business continuity specialist NDR, which has provided services to
St John & St Elizabeth Hospital and other UK hospitals, has announced
the newest addition to its growing fleet of mobile recovery units — a
vehicle with accommodation for up to 20 people.
The vehicle, part of NDR’s strategic development and expansion of its
business continuity and disaster recovery services, is designed to offer
a flexible alternative computer suite environment, should systems fail,
and it can also provide 20 workplace recovery positions.
The air-conditioned unit has its own computer room with a generator
and UPS. There is 24-unit rack space with a patch panel that can house
up to 96 category 5 or 6 data ports, 48 double power sockets and a
wireless LAN, giving the unit the ability to support a sizeable
installation and office network.
Onboard communications are provided by a satellite receiver that
provides secure Internet access and a virtual private network (VPN).
The van is protected by the latest CCTV security cameras, access
control and a GSM entry alarm, which can detect movement in the office
area or plant room.
The company now owns a fleet of modern air-conditioned, fully
equipped computer units, which are designed to be configured with
replica computer systems for NDR customers. They can be on the road to
any customer recovery site within two hours of a call.
NDR is a subsidiary of Phoenix IT Group plc and is based in
Birmingham.
