Mobile healthcare from Pearl Medical
Mobile communications service provider for the healthcare sector,
Pearl Medical, has announced the expansion of its service, from being
exclusively for GPs to being available to all healthcare professionals.
Through its partnerships with Orange and EMIS the firm, which was
established in early 2006, will be introducing new preferential talk
plans, mobile devices and medical applications, available as bespoke
packages to all healthcare workers in the UK.
Philip May, co-founder and director of Pearl Medical, said: “Pearl
Medical is the largest community of GPs using mobile devices to aid
their professional and personal lives. We are working with Orange and
EMIS to offer all healthcare professionals the best possible bundled
services to help make practitioners more mobile. We want to make mobile
communications more accessible to healthcare workers and we want to
offer services that meet their needs, from one single point of
purchase.”
This year will also see the launch of the first in a series of new
applications — patient records accessible on mobile devices. Through the
new service, EMIS users can now view securely unlimited practice patient
records no matter where they are — a huge step forward in delivering
healthcare services outside the confines of the doctor’s surgery.
“We have seen significant growth in a very short space of time”, said
Philip May. “With these partnerships in place, we can deliver the first
truly specialised service built around the needs of those working in the
healthcare arena.”
Pearl Medical is based in Newbury. EMIS is based in Leeds.
