Therapeutic tool for sports injuries
A new Sonoline G40 ultrasound system from Siemens is helping the
recovery of players at Tottenham Hotspur Football Club. Chosen for its
image quality, ease of use and cost effectiveness, the G40 system is
used primarily to guide injections following tendon and ligament
injuries, to evaluate haematomas and to assess the strength of various
muscles.
Dr Kalpesh Parmar, Tottenham Hotspur Football Club’s Head of Medical
Services confirmed: “The G40 is an excellent tool for doctors dealing in
sports medicine. The system enables us to have direct visualisation of
the tendons, ligaments and nerves, so that we can see where the best
place is to position the needle for injections. It’s also very
beneficial to players who need to retrain muscle strength after
injuries. They can see their muscle contractions, and hopefully prevent
injury reccurrence.”
The G40 system’s intuitive user interface allows clinicians to offer
comprehensive, diagnostic ultrasound examinations to more patients in
less time. The compact system design offers easy transportation and
manoeuvrability and the integrated workstation includes a built-in CD
drive for cost effective output and archiving of data.
Siemens Medical Solutions is based in Bracknell, Berkshire.
