Electronic staff records
Half a million NHS employees now paid by ESR
The UK’s largest integrated HR and payroll system — the NHS
Electronic Staff Record (ESR) system from McKesson — has now added its
500,000th NHS employee live onto the system to successfully be paid by
ESR.
When complete, all 1.2 million NHS staff — over 7% of the UK
workforce — will be paid by ESR, which is being delivered by healthcare
IT systems specialist McKesson.
ESR is part of a programme of change and innovation within the NHS —
the NHS Improvement Plan — and is designed to transform the way the NHS
delivers both payroll and HR services to its employees.
In doing so, McKesson is working to improve the overall efficiency
and effectiveness of the NHS. The project is expected to deliver
benefits which include both national-level benefits supporting strategic
planning and the devolution of responsibilities to local, front-line
organisations as well as employee-specific benefits including improved
payroll information, appraisal and training provision.
