SCOTTY Group equips Holland’s biggest telehealth project
SCOTTY Group plc made an initial delivery of equipment to KPN in
October, as part of a €1.5m telehealth deal with the Dutch telecoms
provider signed in July.
The CareStation140 videocommunications systems plus software and
peripherals will be used by the Dutch-government funded project KOALA —
the largest Dutch telehealth initiative ever — to enable older people in
their homes to communicate with their care provider remotely.
Under the new system, the patient touches a call button to create a
live video connection with a care-centre nurse. The patient’s medical
records appear on the nurse’s screen and at the same time the nurse’s
face and name are displayed on the patient’s video terminal.
Medical devices such as blood-pressure monitors and blood-sugar level
meters feed in information remotely, enabling the nurse to make a
decision on patient treatment — either to provide advice online or to
send a healthcare worker to the patient’s home.
UK-headquartered SCOTTY has sold around 2000 systems to The
Netherlands. It has offices in Austria, the US, the Philippines and
China. Its European headquarters are in Bracknell, Berkshire.
