Chaucer Hospital trials CareTrends
Canterbury’s private Chaucer Hospital is the first UK hospital to
trial careTrends, a new wireless technology that captures patients’
vital signs and transfers the data to their electronic patient record,
enabling it to be accessed securely both on- and off-site.
Using the system, by wireless healthcare systems developer Sensitron,
potential errors in data transcription are reduced while data is time
and date stamped, creating an effective audit trail.
“The installation of careTrends allows our medical staff to
electronically monitor their patients and record their outcomes
accurately and efficiently. Our nurses have been ready converts, as the
system allows them more one-on-one time with their patients, something I
believe is central to providing a higher quality of care, while ensuring
patient safety”, said the hospital’s Executive Director, Stephen Gough.
Putney-based Sensitron supplies software to the British and Eastern
European healthcare markets. The Chaucer Hospital is part of the
49-strong BMI Healthcare private hospital network.
