Paper-free physiotherapy
A pilot project to develop and deliver a paperless system in an
outpatient physiotherapy department is under way within Conwy and
Denbighshire NHS Trust.
The Trust IM&T department has been working with Cheshire-based
software company ZuluZoft to deliver the new system and develop the
department’s links to the corporate systems.
The system, Therapy Manager, combines an appointment booking
facility, resource allocation, patient electronic record, performance
indicators and a host of other supporting files. The new networking and
equipment which will be used to deliver the system has been provided by
Informing Healthcare, the Welsh Assembly Government-funded programme to
transform health services in Wales through new technology.
The IT equipment will enable clinicians to access information in
areas where a desktop PC would not be viable.
The development has been especially welcomed by Trust Director of
Therapy Services, Iain Mitchell. “I have been trying to undertake this
piece of work since 1996 and so we’re very excited by the diverse
functionality that we believe the software will offer us. Informing
Healthcare has turned our software development aspirations into
reality.”
