Mobility solution saves Leeds a packet
Leeds City Council is on track to save 30 minutes a day per mobile
worker — that’s an average saving of £2,000 per employee per year —
thanks to a mobility solution from CommonTime.
The system, mSuite wireless Lotus Notes, has helped the Council, the
second largest metropolitan local authority in England, to extend the
collaborative software and email system Lotus Notes to a wide range of
its staff’s handheld devices.
Providing end-to-end and on-device security, and simple centralised
transmission to multiple mobile users, the system enables users to
receive and answer emails on the move.
Offering wider device coverage — both ‘cradle-sync’ and ‘wireless
push’ email — mSuite was also easier to use than competing packages.
“We chose mSuite essentially because of its usability”, said a
spokesman for Leeds City Council Corporate ICT Services. “It has proved
more versatile than some of the other options we looked at, as it allows
more access to files such as Word and Excel. It was also less expensive,
without any loss in functionality.”
