Siemens Communications wins enterprise award
Siemens Communications has received the Queen’s Award for Enterprise
— the UK’s most high-profile award for business — for an innovative
solution it developed to enable flexible working in HM Government
departments.
The Milton Keynes-based division’s HiPath personal communications
portal enables users to communicate consistently and seamlessly using
all forms of telephony including private networks, landline phones,
mobile phones, the Internet and new emerging wireless services.
This has meant that users can control their availability to take
calls or have calls re-routed to the most convenient device, without the
user or caller being aware of any difference in operation or
functionality. The result is that flexible working practices can easily
be adopted (and consequently, travelling and infrastructure costs
reduced). Non-core functions can also be more easily moved out of
high-cost conurbations.
“To win the Queen’s Award for Enterprise is a huge honour for Siemens
Communications and testament to the company’s innovative approach to
solving complex communications issues in line with business
requirements”, said Graham Walker, the UK Managing Director of Siemens
Communications. “The development of the HiPath personal communications
portal is a clear realisation of Siemens Communications’ LifeWorks
vision, which removes the barriers between home and corporate
communications to deliver a seamless experience regardless of location,
network or device.”
The Queen’s Awards for Enterprise are presented every year to UK
businesses that have demonstrated outstanding achievement in
international trade, sustainable development and innovation.
