Software to connect bedside medical devices

CMSense from Cain Medical is a new software product that can connect to bedside medical devices and acquire patient readings.
Connecting to devices such as patient monitors and respirators over the network, CMSense can provide a centralised source of patient data across the entire hospital.

The data gathered can be translated into any format required by applications such as intensive care, charting systems or hospital electronic medical records. By standardising the acquired data, CMSense allows applications to guarantee compatibility with a hospital site even when new medical devices are introduced.

“The desire to collect patient data automatically has never been greater”, said Nicholas Cain, Director of Cain Medical Ltd. “Yet the capability to add a medical device to your healthcare IT infrastructure remains far from simple.

There is no standard form of communicating with patient monitors being used by device manufacturers. CMSense dramatically changes that, and allows applications to readily collect patient measurements from any medical device.”

CMSense is available as a range of servers (each one providing a self-contained platform for easy integration with other healthcare systems) and as a software development kit. The latter enables developers to integrate the functionality of the medical devices interfaces directly into their applications.
