Sirocom to provide managed broadband service
Surrey-based Sirocom, the UK’s fastest growing virtual network
operator (VNO), has been selected by UniChem Ltd and its retail partner,
Alliance Pharmacy, to provide the managed broadband service that
underpins the rollout of the electronic prescription service (EPS) to
almost 1000 Alliance Pharmacy stores and thousands of other independent
UK pharmacies.
“By working with leading technology suppliers, we are offering our
customers a one-stop IT solution which can be tailored to the individual
needs of every pharmacy, taking away any hassle and confusion”, said
UniChem’s IT Director Anthony Roberts. “In order to implement the
electronic prescription service, pharmacists require a compliant patient
medical record system, which has been provided by pharmacy IT supplier
Cegedim, and an N3 connection approved by Connecting for Health.
With Sirocom, we are able to take advantage of the VNO model that
offers greater levels of choice, service, flexibility and scale, and
we’re working with a partner that has a strong track record in the mass
deployment of broadband in the retail sector. This is important because
the service is critical to the smooth and profitable operation of the
pharmacy.”
The announcement follows the successful rollout of a managed broadband
service, also by Sirocom, to the first 1000 pharmacies.
