Camdata introduces ‘smart’ wristbands to the UK market
Computer equipment supplier Camdata has been appointed UK distributor
of a range of ‘smart’ patient wristbands. Operating on a tiny radio
frequency identification (RFID) chip sealed in a non-transferable
plastic base, the wristbands — by US-based Precision Dynamics
Corporation (PDC) — act as portable, dynamic databases carrying patient
information that can be used and updated during the patient’s stay.
Unlike barcode, the RFID tags in the Smart Band wristbands can be
read through and around the human body, clothing, bed coverings and
non-metallic materials.
