New managed learning environment for Avon SHA
Avon, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire Strategic Health Authority has
chosen learning systems provider e2train to supply a new managed
learning environment (MLE) to serve all 25 of the Authority’s NHS
trusts.
The system will provide all those working in healthcare and
socialcare across the three counties with a complete view of all their
training plans — with learning history, course information and classroom
management tools available on a single web portal.
Training staff, content authors and topic-area experts will manage
and create elearning content using the system’s collaboration and
workflow tools. The MLE will be integrated over time with the NHS
Electronic Staff Records system.
“Access to all components will be through the Internet. That means we
will now be able to access information on classroom courses, download
elearning and take part in virtual class-room sessions in any location
with Internet access”, said Sally Hernando, Assistant Director of
Quality at the Avon, Gloucestershire and Wiltshire Workforce De-velopment
Confederation.
“One of our key objectives will be to develop web-based learning
communities where learners with similar needs, who are otherwise widely
dispersed, can come together online and support each other through the
learning process”, she said.
“For trainers and managers, the system means that we will now be able to
choose the kind of learning — be it elearning, classroom or virtual
classroom —
that most suits our requirements, improving efficiency and value for
money.”
