Secure SAN back-up for specialist eye hospital
DataCore Software, which has a European operation based in Reading,
Berkshire, has announced that Moorfields Eye Hospital in London will be
using DataCore SANmelody and Nexsan ATABeast SATA disk systems to meet
storage demand and back-up requirements.
Moorfields’ stored records include those in electronic format,
scanned paper patient records, images of eyes, information relating to
patient demographics and appointments, plus staff records. All of these
were placing increasing strain on the hospital’s existing storage
systems.
Steven Gill, responsible for infrastructure support at Moorfields,
didn’t want a Fibre Channel or NAS solution and jumped at the
opportunity to use SAN’s answer to their problem.
SANmelody is now providing secure back-up for Moorfields; Gill says:
“The solution has met our expectations. It gives us centralised
management control and has allowed all our servers to be backed up. We
have also achieved a scalable and open architecture for us to build upon
as we grow in the future.”
