User-friendly ultrasound from Siemens

Siemens Medical Solutions in Berkshire has supplied The Royal London Hospital with its latest Sonoline Antares ultrasound system offering expanded capabilities combined with improved ergonomic design.

The latest software upgrade includes Siemens’ fourSight 4D imaging technology, which allows three-dimensional display of images in real time, enabling the operator effectively to study moving images. The London is using the system particularly for musculoskeletal ultrasound but also a range of general and abdominal examinations.

Sonographers are liable to develop repetitive strain injury after years of repeated positioning of ultrasound probes and the Antares system has been designed to minimise this risk by attention to the lightness and flexibility of transducer cables, miniaturisation of the hardware, and user-friendliness and portability.
