UK to benefit from Italian job
Imaging systems provider Xograph has announced its decision to make
portable digital radiography (DR) systems available to the UK ambulance
market, following the successful installation of a similar system inside
an ambulance in Italy.
Hospital Arzignano in the city of Vicenza recorded a considerable
increase in efficiency and standards of care for patients since
implementation, last year, of a Canon DR xray system. Incorporating a
CXDI-50G 35 × 43cm portable flat panel detector, the system was
installed in an ambulance to provide field examinations by paramedics.
Images are now produced less than three seconds after exposure and can
be transmitted, together with ECG and other vital data, back to the
hospital. This greatly speeds up decision-making and restricts triage
congestion in A&E.
“The filmless hospital was initially seen as the main advantage of DR
but as the innovation continues, the boundaries of the radiology
department have expanded”, said Neil Staff, Technical Director at
Gloucester-based Xograph. “Today, portable xray solutions can be used in
the field during military action, as a triage tool at roadside accidents
and for remote examinations in nursing homes, prisons and forensic
sites”.
Xograph Imaging Systems has been the exclusive supplier of the Canon
DR technologies in the UK for six years.
