Gloucester Health Community outsources financial support
Global software firm Geac has signed an agreement with the Gloucester
Health Community to provide a 24 × 7 support service for its existing
Geac SmartStream finance solution, which currently serves all six
healthcare organisations that make up the Community.
Under the new agreement, Geac will provide the shared service with
remote managed support, removing all technical responsibility for the
SmartStream Finance system from the organisations’ internal IT
departments. The Community expects to see dramatic cost savings as a
result.
“We decided to undertake the Geac AppCare agreement for three
reasons”, explained Janet Biard, Head of Finance Shared Services at
Gloucester Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. “First, we wanted continuity
of service; second, we wanted the reassurance and expertise you get from
working with the authors of the software; and third, and most
importantly, by turning over the manage-ment of our enterprise
applications to Geac, our internal IT resources can focus on other
crucial IT projects.”
The Community is made up of the Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS
Foundation Trust, Gloucestershire Partnership NHS Trust, the county’s
three primary care trusts and the Gloucestershire Ambulance Service.
