PATIENT
COMMUNICATIONSBedside terminal from Trident
Patient wellbeing and satisfaction is an increasingly important
consideration in assessing hospital performance under the NHS Patient
Power initiative. One product that has made a considerable impact,
according to its manufacturer, is an individual bedside com-puter
terminal called Zevo.
Developed by Surrey-based hardware manufacturer Trident and software
developer Lincor, the easy-to-clean Zevo terminal (above) incorporates a
phone handset, headphone socket, smartcard reader and Bluetooth, WiFi
and USB ports.
Patients can purchase smartcards for use with the product at hospital
vending machines, giving them access to email, television and radio,
movies, Internet, talking books and games, as well as enabling them to
keep in touch with family by VoIP telephone. Clinicians have hospital IT
applications and patient records on tap at the bedside and so can share
lab, xray and scan results with the patient as well as creating and
implementing care plans.
Patients can also access hospital services such as menu selection,
hospital information and health education programmes via the Zevo,
providing vital feedback via online satisfaction surveys.
