DATA MANAGEMENTSheffield equipment service upgrades to
paperless reporting
Sheffield Community Equipment Loans Service (SCELS), part of the Health
and Local Authority Service hosted by Sheffield Care Trust, is updating
its existing paper-based reporting system with an ELMS2 (Equipment Loans
Management System) from Leicester-based Ethitec.
SCELS supplies equipment to the population of Sheffield; it currently
has approximately 82,000 pieces of equipment located in around 30,000
homes to support people with health and social care needs.
Mike Weatherall, ELMS2 Product Manager at Ethitec, says of the ELMS2
technology: “It is a web-enabled IT system that brings all the necessary
equipment-management functions together to support integrated com-munity
equipment (ICES) stores and wheelchair clinics.
“It has been specifically developed to reflect two key user concepts:
keeping track of equipment, including making sure it comes back, and
providing all relevant legislative and performance-indicator information
as a by-product of normal use.”
ELMS2 is designed to perform a variety of functions, including
ordering, stock management, service tracking, purchasing and distribution.
As it is a web-enabled operation, requisitions can be made online.
