IMAGINGOnsite xray service for music festival
Revellers at the recent Staffordshire-based V Festival (V2005), held on
20–21 August, were the first ever to enjoy the advantages of an onsite
xray service to check for broken bones.
Gloucestershire-based Xograph Imaging Systems and Canon Inc, supplied
the festival’s field hospital with a state-of-the-art portable digital
xray machine (right), with a view to improving onsite care.
The equipment was able to produce an instant digital xray image to be
viewed on a flat panel display, enabling immediate diagnosis and treatment
without the need to wait for films to be processed.
Dennis Holmes, Event Medical Manager for West Yorkshire Ambulance
Service’s Private Ambulance Department, says: “For the festival goer, it
meant, if they did have a fall or accident and we suspected a fracture, we
could xray there and then, speeding up their care and treating them onsite
if it turned out there were no broken bones.”
