Technology to promote healthy eating
The European Nutrigenomics Organisation (NuGO) has chosen collaborative
web conferencing technology from WebEx to speed up communications between
members of its 22-organisation research community.
Face-to-face meetings for the EC-funded body, which shares knowledge
and promotes the latest research-based information on eating to retain
health, are scarce (its members being spread across 10 countries).
Technology from WebEx, however, is making project management via
web-conferencing possible and speeding up the sharing of information.
The WebEx Meeting Center integrates data, audio and video through a
web-browser without imposing complicated technical requirements on the
users. Integration with Microsoft Outlook makes it easy to verify
availability, send invitations, schedule, start and join meetings.
“With 15 individual projects in progress, it’s important for managers
to meet, view raw laboratory data and gauge progress”, explained Dr F
Pepping, NuGo Network Manager. “With WebEx we can share data and
applications regardless of the computers and software people are using. It
is also integrated with our intranet tool, Topshare, where we store the
community’s documents and discussions.”
