Library management
system for North West England

Library services provider to NHS organisations in North West England, Fade, is replacing its current library management system with Softlink’s Liberty3.

The firm, which provides library services to the Liverpool PCTs and Cheshire and Merseyside SHAs and doesn’t often make investments in library software, wanted a system that would stand them in good stead for the future. “We chose Liberty3 as being far and away the next generation of software; it’s helping us to prepare he service for where we want it to be in two or three years’ time”, said Kieran Lamb, Fade’s Library Services Manager.

“We have around 15,000 items in stock but ours isn’t a service where users generally visit in person. We aim instead to deliver the library to primary care staff using electronic delivery or the postal network. With Liberty3, District nurses, GPs and health visitors will be able to use any web-enabled computer to search our system at any time, day or night. It’s also useful for our staff. I myself split my time between different offices and it’s crucial to be able to access the library system easily from wherever I’m based.”
