InterSystems and Sapient demonstrate virtual EHR
Massachusetts-based Intersystems, a leading international supplier of
software for mission-critical applications has unveiled a virtual
electronic health record, built on its Ensemble universal integration
platform in collaboration with Sapient, an international business
consulting and technology services company also based in Massachusetts. It
integrates patient data from multiple applications and databases to offer
a single, comprehensive view of a patient’s entire health history through
a user-friendly portal, shown at the recent HIMSS 2005 conference in
Dallas.
“The virtual EHR is a working portal prototype that clearly illustrates
the benefits to be derived by integrating patient data from multiple
applications and repositories to offer a single view of the information
through an easily accessible portal” said Phil Birchall, Healthcare
Business Development Director at InterSystems.
“While many hospitals and physicians have already implemented
individual EHR systems, healthcare professionals are still challenged by
the fact that patient data is stored in multiple locations and in
disparate formats”, said Mike Reid, UK Vice President of Sapient. “The
ability to offer a medical provider comprehensive data on their patients —
anywhere, anytime and from any information repository — will help
transform healthcare.”
