Kodak puts Barts’ Breast Care Centre in the picture
St Bartholomew’s Hospital, part of Barts and The London NHS Trust, has
invested in a Kodak Dryview 8900 laser imager for its new state-of-the-art
Breast Care Centre, which opened last October. With the addition of
specific mammography software, the Kodak Dryview 8900 system provides
high-resolution printing from four new Full Field Digital Radiography (FFDR)
systems.
The Kodak system can produce up to 200 films an hour at 650dpi
resolution as standard, and is used with dedicated mammography film. Three
multiple sizes are available online and, in addition to the FFDR systems,
the imager is connected to ultrasound.
“We chose the 8900 because of its high throughput and because of the
lack of film curl which other makes of imager are prone to get”, explains
Superintendent Radiographer Joanne Francis. “The touchscreen makes the
unit easy to use — just load the film and it produces consistent image
quality time after time.”
