Fourth major NHS Trust chooses Review
Aintree Hospitals is the latest in a line of NHS trusts to choose
Indigo 4’s Review solution in an attempt to improve patient care.
Designed to provide clinical staff on hospital wards with timely,
browser-based access to their patients’ pathology and radiology results,
Review looks set to benefit both patients and clinical staff at Aintree.
It will also enable the graphing of test histories and, in an exciting new
development, allows GPs to view results securely over NHSnet.
Aintree Hospitals provides acute healthcare to around 330,000 people in
north Merseyside and the surrounding areas, and follows in the footsteps
of neighbouring Stockport, Morecombe Bay and Southport & Ormskirk Trusts
in the adoption of Review, which was first implemented at Buckinghamshire
Hospitals Trust in 2003.
Ann Hayes, who managed the implementation at Morecombe Bay, explained
how Review has helped empower staff: “Clinicians are able to print and
graph pathology results, have access to radiology reports, print them and
also have access to all endoscopy reports, including gastroscopy,
colonoscopy, sigmoidoscopy and ERCP reports.” And the impact of the
solution is not just being felt on the wards.
“The pathology departments have noticed a massive drop in telephone
calls”, Hayes continued. “No longer do they have to print duplicate
results for wards and departments.”
