Wireless conference phone brings flexibility to healthcare workers
Polycom Inc has launched its first wireless conference phone to the
European market.
Intended to tap into the growing trend for remote and collaborative
working, the SoundStation 2W has two wireless modes. The first is based on
built-in 1.9GHz DECT wireless technology and makes use of a base station,
while the second is based on a mobile phone connection, allowing the phone
to be used in any location.
Jim Kruger, Vice President of Polycom’s voice marketing department,
says: “Wireless technology has a huge range of advantages. You can move
the conference phone around and position it closer to those speaking — the
microphone range is 10ft. There are no wires, which means the possibility
of tripping over a cord or kicking the power cord out of its socket and
accidentally terminating the call, is removed.”
He adds: “The SoundStation 2W has a 150ft range from the base station, so
it can be used in an office, cubicle, break room or between multiple
conference rooms.”
Key features of the wireless phone include good quality voice for both
speakers and listeners; up to 24-hours talk time via a Lithium Ion
battery; and feature-rich LCD display and intuitive interface for easy
operation.
The SoundStation 2W also puts a premium on security. Kruger says:
“We’ve implemented a range of security measures, including 64-bit voice
encryption to protect conversations between the console and the base
station, a lock-down slot so the unit can be physically secured.”
He concludes: “The SoundStation2W gives health professionals the
flexibility and freedom to hold high-quality, hands-free conversations in
any convenient location, from the lab to the conference room.”
