Liverpool Women’s Hospital roll out electronic prescribing

The Liverpool Women’s Hospital NHS Trust has commenced the final phase of implementing the MEDITECH electronic prescribing (EP) system in all inpatient clinical areas. The EP system provides integration between the MEDITECH pharmacy stock system’s patient prescriptions and other patient-based modules, as well as the finance and accounting subsystems.

“We have acquired and developed a system that provides a fully integrated prescribing, supply and administration solution, thus eliminating the need for transcription”, said Paul Turner, who has led the Pharmacy project at the Trust. “Users include anaesthetists, consultants, medical, nursing and midwifery staff, plus staff in other areas, dieticians and of course pharmacy professionals. All use the same central electronic record, which brings huge benefits for patient safety issues and risk reduction.”

FileTek UK offers the extensive MEDITECH solution range coupled with service-based contracts to hospitals in the UK and Ireland.
