Online resources for IT project evaluation

The evaluation of ehealth projects was in the spotlight recently with the publication of the Public value and e-health report from the Institute of Public Policy Research (IPPR).

This coincides with the release of online resources supporting the project and objective evaluation (PROBE) methodology developed by IT Perspectives. The NHSIA has recommended the use of PROBE for the evaluation of IT projects in the NHS.

The resource consists of an online toolkit that provides a systematic framework and comprehensive guidance for the design and implementation of robust and effective evaluations, equally suited to experienced evaluators or beginners.

Refined over several years with the input of leading academics in the field, it aims to be a valuable asset to the NPfIT in realising the full potential of the systems it is developing. The toolkit can be found at www.it-p.net/probe
