Google publishes satellite images of Haiti earthquake damage in Google Maps

21 January 2010

Google has published recent satellite images of the devastation caused by last week's earthquake in Haiti.

Google's Geo team has worked with partner GeoEye to collect and publish the data for aid agencies and the public.

The first images were published on 13 January and these updated images were gathered on January 17 and with higher than the usual resolution (about 15cm) to provide more detail.

The images are available in Google Maps in satellite mode and will be available in the Google Maps API and in Google Map Maker and Google Earth.
