Social networking site for complementary medicine
2 June 2008
Social networking websites are having a significant effect on the way
people deal with their health problems by enabling them to get advice
from friends or professionals.
Now a dedicated social networking site has been set up for people
interested in complementary medicine to bring together consumers and
therapists. Members of
www.everybodybetter.com can research and find therapists, book
appointments, discuss therapies with other like-minded people, keep a
health diary if appropriate (eg if trying out a diet or regimen of
activity or exercise) as well as keeping up to date on the world of
complementary health.
Alex Owen, a qualified Practitioner in Chinese Medicine from London
and who has a particular interest in women's health, has been one of the
first professionals to join the site. "The internet is a fantastic way
for health practitioners to promote their businesses and a large
majority of the referrals I get these days come through my website.
Sites like everybodybetter.com are good because they allow you to have a
bit of personal contact with a potential patient before they decide
whether or not they would like to see you and this is good for both
patients and practitioners alike," he said.
