Southampton University Hospitals to deploy 18-week-wait tool

30 April 2008

Southampton University Hospitals NHS Trust will deploy Pathway Manager from business intelligence specialists Ardentia to address national Referral to Treatment (RTT) reporting requirements.

Pathway Manager enables NHS trusts to monitor patients’ progress against the 18-week referral-to-treatment target and ensure compliance with the new NHS regulations, ahead of the December 2008 deadline for compliance.

The system will also be used within the Trust’s own inhouse information portal to drill down and investigate wider issues relating to patient pathways in greater detail.

Southampton has also chosen to deploy Ardentia’s datawarehouse and patient-level costing solutions to address the deployment of resources for healthcare and to understand potential risk, as well as supporting the development of long-term financial modelling.

Adrian Byrne, IM&T director at Southampton University Hospitals NHS Trust said: “Improved processes and systems, and access to essential referrals-to-treatment information means a better flow of patients, enabling managers and clinicians to plan and manage their workloads more effectively and deliver an improved level of service, as well as ensuring compliance with national reporting requirements.”

David Beeson, marketing director at Ardentia said: “With the 18-week deadline fast approaching, Trusts need a robust solution in place to ensure they have the essential referrals-to-treatment information needed by clinicians and administrators. We are looking forward to working closely with Southampton, ensuring they have the information for full RTT compliance, and enabling them to continue to provide the highest level of patient care.”
