Peterborough chooses McKesson Shared Services for payroll and HR

Peterborough and Stamford Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has selected
McKesson Shared Services to support its human resources (HR) and payroll
function, providing a complete end-to-end electronic staff record (ESR)
service offering.
The NHS Electronic Staff Record, the world’s largest implementation
of Oracle Human Resource Management System and Oracle Payroll, is part
of a programme of change and innovation within the NHS, the NHS
Improvement Plan. This is designed to transform the way in which the NHS
delivers both HR and payroll services to its employees.
The project is expected to deliver benefits at both national and
local levels. It supports strategic planning and the devolution of
responsibilities to local, front line organisations as well as
employee-specific benefits, including improved payroll information,
appraisal and training provision.
Gerri Macdonald, HR/Payroll Lead, Peterborough and Stamford Hospitals
NHS Foundation Trust, commented, “Since McKesson’s acquisition of
Supporta we feel that we are provided with the best opportunity to
experience the full ESR offering from the very company that derived the
system. As a trust we are very keen to embrace innovation and we wanted
a service that can interface with ESR. Using one interface in McKesson
we can reduce paper output and improve accuracy across the HR and
payroll function.
“We hope to move toward electronic data capture and McKesson’s IT
background makes them compatible with our aspirations. This is allied to
the fact that Peterborough is due to complete the build of our new
hospital in 2010. We are installing a new IT infrastructure as part of
the new hospital and we are keen to optimise the capability of our
existing technology; this has been a key driver for our selection of
McKesson Shared Services.”
