Gateshead manages patient risk with integrated reporting system
24 January 2008
Gateshead NHS Trust has implemented patient risk management software
from Datix to provide integrated reporting systems to meet
compliance needs.
Of immediate importance was the integration of incident
reporting with the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) and Complaints.
One of the most significant factors to the Trust is the time it takes
from when incident reports are submitted to when they are received by an
investigator. This determines how quickly an incident can be
investigated. Once the report goes into the system it is immediately available to the person tasked
with the investigation.
Angela O'Brien, Head of Corporate Risk at Gateshead Health said,
"Datix enables us to analyse trends and behave in a strategic and
preventative way. For example, we can target hotspots in the Trust as a
result of reports from Datix, such as patient falls. We can then put
practices into place to reduce the number of falls. We have seen a
difference in this area already."
Daniel Hazan, General Manager of Datix said, "We are helping the
Trust to meet its mandatory reporting requirements. It is great to see
how Gateshead Health is rapidly developing its use of Datix by tackling
increasingly sophisticated projects."
