Opt-out of CRS to be an absolute right
The Department of Health has conceded that patients will have an
absolute right to stop their records being shared across England’s NHS
Care Records Service (CRS), without needing to show special reasons.
Last year, the DoH announced that all summary records will be
uploaded to the CRS whether patients consent or not, though patients
will be able to ask for them to be marked “not to be shared with other
health professionals” (see bjhc&im April 2005, p10).
