Scientists engaged in a worldwide effort to cure diseases such as
Huntington’s, Parkinson’s and a range of cancers are turning to the new
Sony gamesbox, PlayStation 3, to help them understand the origins of
these conditions.
In the Folding@home project, medical researchers around the world
co-ordinated by the Pande Group at Stanford University are hoping to
assemble a network of these PlayStations to process data faster than the
largest supercomputer in existence.
