A German–US team of scientists has built a new mathematical model for
predicting the spread of such diseases as bird ‘flu, SARS, and HIV.
Based on chaos theory and non-linear mathematics, the new model
radically simplifies the job of building computerised tracking systems
and collecting data to predict the spread of highly infectious diseases
through established western populations.
