After at least three years of deliberations, announcements made late
last month by Health Minister Lord Warner confirm that the Government’s
chosen consent model for the upload and use of patients’ summary
electronic healthcare records (EHRs), which will be handled by England’s
national Care Records Service (CRS), is a public information campaign
and a process by which patients, if they wish, can opt out of having
their medical information available from the national database.
