Computing experts keep up pressure for a technical review of the National Programme

 

Senior computing scientists from universities in all four countries of the UK have repeated their call for an independent technical review of the National Programme for IT. They have also accused NHS Connecting for Health (CfH) of “retrospectively changing the historical record” by altering an agreed, published, statement about their meeting on 20 April.

Last April, the group of 23 experts — mostly distinguished professors — wrote an open letter to the House of Commons Health Committee, warning that the NPfIT was showing classic symptoms of project failure. (see bjhc&im, May 2006, p4).

After the April meeting, the expert group wrote to the Health Committee with proposed terms of reference (which they have put on a wiki; see http://editthis.info/nhs_it_info/
