NHS Fife has become the first Scottish region to roll out an
electronic discharge-summary project’s pilot based on the Immediate
Discharge Documents initiative of the Scottish Intercollegiate Guidance
Network.
The electronic discharge summary is designed to provide GPs and other
primary care practitioners with more timely and accurate information for
continuing care. It includes details of the patient’s stay, discharge
advice and any drugs that have been prescribed.
