| The NHS’s National
Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) has been reported to the
Information Commissioner for allegedly breaching the Freedom of
Information Act (FoIA) by hiding the data and the method by which it
made a decision. The complaint is being brought by MP John Hemming on
behalf of the Alzheimer’s Society. It arose from the NICE’s refusal to
approve four expensive new drugs for the alleviation of Alzheimer’s
disease on the grounds that they are not cost effective. Citing the FoIA,
the Society asked the National Institute to disclose the reasoning of
its decision.
