| The leader of
Scotland’s GPs has criticised the Scottish Executive for creating laws
that allow various government agencies access to medical records without
patients’ knowledge or consent.
Speaking at April’s Annual Conference of Scottish Local Medical
Committees in Clydebank, Dr David Love, joint chairman of the BMA’s
Scottish General Practitioners Committee, warned that this erosion of
patient confidentiality would damage the doctor-patient relationship and
could deter people from seeking medical advice or treatment.
