Report highlights struggle to improve management of healthcare in prisons

 
Anne Owers, the Chief Inspector of Prisons, has stated in her annual report that the use of technology in the delivery of healthcare in prisons lags far behind the use of technology in the NHS.

She said that, in general, prison use of IT “remains poor”, and that there have been delays in the national rollout of IT. Additionally, many prison systems are not compatible with local NHS systems, adding to concerns that there is a second-class healthcare service in prisons.
