The
head of Scotland’s plan to develop a national healthcare information
system has blamed the project’s slow progress on the software industry.
Dr
Kenneth Robertson of the Scottish Executive Health Department told the
HC2006 Conference in March that suppliers are not yet in a position to
deliver electronic healthcare record technology. “The market is not
ready for our full vision; [suppliers] are too domain-focused and their
products are not mature enough”, he said.
Developing a GP clinical
system to replace GPASS remains a major problem to be resolved, he said
