Data liberation and value of information
Professor Denise Lievesley, Chief Executive of England’s
Information Centre for Health and Social Care, explains how the Centre turns
data into accessible knowledge.
ABSTRACT
Information based on data from activities in healthcare and socialcare
can, if fully exploited, have a significant and lasting impact on people’s
lives. The Information Centre aims to: improve data quality and guarantee
its integrity; combine data from different sectors to reveal new information
for healthcare and socialcare; and ensure systems can report at both the
local and national level. How this is achieved and made available to those
who need it, when they need it and with clear and simple methods of access
is described.
