The NPfIT and England’s healthcare-IT market: an assessment
at year four

proving difficult to implement the National Programme for IT in the NHS in

ABSTRACT
Originally announced in 2002, the National Programme for IT in the NHS in
England is proving much more difficult to bring to fruition than originally
planned. This article reviews the real impact of the NPfIT on the UK
healthcare-IT market in light of announcements of significant delays in its
implementation.
